But where do you start? How do you know what's right for you? If you've never experienced such a photo shoot, you might be wondering what's the difference between boudoir and erotica and which type of photo shoot will best fulfill your desires. Best to hear it from someone who specializes in shooting both so you can make a well-informed decision.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

What is Boudoir?

You want photos that make you feel empowered, sensual, and confident. Whether you have photos done for yourself or to share with a loved one, the mood has to be just right. Boudoir photography is the perfect state of undress for women OR men (non-binary, too!). From sexy attire and alluring lingerie to barely there, the look is intimate and tempting—a suggestion of what's to come.

Boudoir photos are the perfect way to dip your toe into explicit photography—a way to show off your sexy side on your terms. You can leave it all on and let the poses tell your story, take it all off or anywhere in between. It depends on your comfort level. But boudoir is a more artistic, subdued version of explicit photos that celebrate the human body in its beauty and sexuality.

I offer Las Vegas Boudoir Photography to help you express just how beautiful your body truly is while capturing your individuality. Unleash your inner seductress or playful ingenue. Together, we will find mind-blowing poses that fully express both your inner and outer beauty.

What is Erotica?

Feeling frisky? Maybe you've experienced a boudoir shoot before, and now you are ready to take it a tiny stiletto step further and give erotica a try. Or if you've built a little confidence and want to show off what’s under your jockstrap, make the leap and go for a totally nude erotic photo shoot. I shoot better dick pics than you so let me show off what you got.

Erotica is boudoir photography taken up a notch (or ten). Boudoir photography is sensual and seductive. Erotica can be those things too, but it's also more sexually stimulating and arousing. While both boudoir and erotica can easily involve props (think 50 Shades vibes) erotica is open to deeper exploration of fetish and kink with preferences.

nude photography

Erotica is boudoir photography's naughty, naughty cousin (spankings anyone?). A nude erotic photo shoot can still be done with all the artistry of boudoir, the play of shadows and light, teasing and tempting, instead of something completely risque, but it's based on raw sexuality.

Boudoir may show buttocks and even breasts, but it will not show genitalia or penetration, whereas erotica isn't afraid of getting the close-ups. There are no sexual acts taking place in boudoir, whereas that is entirely possible with erotic photography.

What if I Book Boudoir but Decide I Want Erotica?

My sessions are a judgment-free zone, and if you feel empowered in my photoshoot and feel like taking things one step further, I commend you. However, I would never ever want any of my clients to do the "walk of shame" because they feel guilty after getting caught up in the moment.

Consent is ALWAYS key.

My gift is making you feel comfortable in vulnerable situations. But when the adrenaline kicks in and you’re feeling more self-assured and sexier than you may have ever felt before you might want to push your own boundaries and that can be a problem.

I’m open to shooting a lot of things but prior consent is always required for whatever takes place.

When you book an erotic photography session, you have set expectations. You go in basically knowing what you're going to get out of it, and you can trust that is what will happen. But there’s more to it than just how much you’re willing to bare. There is a different questionnaire, contract, and the prep work and planning is different from the boudoir shoots.

But when you start with a boudoir picture, something a little tamer, you can get fired up, feeling like you have the world in the sexy, little palm of your hand. Then, often, people feel like taking it just a bit further…and a little more…and then decide that's it, let's shoot, erotica-especially when shooting couples' boudoir when the juices get flowing.

Only, in your day-to-day life, that's not a choice you would have made. So you feel guilty afterward. Maybe have a little buyer’s remorse. I don't ever want to be part of someone making a choice they later regret.

So for that reason, the lines are pretty cut and dry. A boudoir photoshoot is boudoir, and erotica is erotica. You CAN book and shoot both, but that has to be pre-determined and the agreements negotiated and mutually signed.

The only time you can switch from one to the other after the contract has been signed is if you booked an erotica shoot, did all the paperwork but then decided, NOPE, you want to do boudoir instead. Sometimes people think they want to do erotica but get a little camera shy so if that happens, changing your mind and downgrading is ok.

Where Does Fetish and Kink Fit In?

erotic photography

When locals and tourists call up my Las Vegas Erotic Photography business, I get quite a few people asking if I shoot fetish and kink. And I say, yes, yes, I do. As long as it is mutual and safe for everyone involved, that is, but that goes for any couple or group photos.

Fetish and Kink photos fall into the erotic photography category, and I'm almost always down just nothing that will land any of us in jail or in the hospital. We discuss these types of things in my pre-booking discussions, and I have a list in my contract of a few acts that are disallowed due to health and safety concerns.

Is Explicit Photography Porn?

Some question if erotica is the same as pornography, and the difference is pornography's only intent is for sexual gratification. In contrast, erotica tells a story and is expressed through artistic means. Also, you don't have to bare all to have an erotica photo shoot…but the option is there if you want it.

In some states or counties, there might be certain laws regarding the shooting of erotic photography that must be followed. So it's always best to know what is deemed (ahem) "acceptable" in the eyes of the law. Here in Vegas, the laws are about what you expect them to be. After all, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. That may be why so many people love getting their boudoir and erotic photos taken when they vacation here, after all Las Vegas is listed as one of the kinkiest cities in the world

Who is Erotica for?

Now that I've piqued your interest, you might be wondering who explicit photography is for—pretty much any adult who desires it. My job as an erotic photographer in Las Vegas is to make every single client feel safe in being who they desire to be in front of the camera. I take photos of women, men, couples, throuples, moresomes, and I always support the LBGTQ community.

Explicit Photography for Women

Boudoir for women is huge these days, but that doesn't mean they aren't taking the plunge into something steamier. Erotic photography allows women to express their sexuality in ways many haven't previously tempted. It allows them to shed the notion that women must conform to a certain look to be sexually attractive or behave a certain way to be socially acceptable. They set the tone and the vision in their session and become what it is they want to see in the world.

Explicit Photography for Men

Boudoir pictures for men is becoming more prevalent. Sadly, not enough Las Vegas boudoir photographers will shoot men. I love giving men a safe outlet to express themselves. Despite common beliefs, men suffer from self-esteem issues just like women do. They enjoy having the boost of confidence that boudoir and erotic photography gives them. Please don't confuse my male boudoir or erotic photography for the silly dudeoir photographs spreading around the internet. Those are for comedic relief and fail to give men the sensuous, self-assured boost they desire.

Explicit Photography for Couples

Couples choose boudoir or erotic photography for a wide variety of reasons, to spice things up, to dive deep into their desired intimacy, or to simply do something a little kinky and fun. Whatever the reason, erotica provides a space for couples to thrive, to release their inhibitions. Being in front of a camera while you're blindfolded and bound while your latex-clad wife teases you with a riding crop may be your ultimate fantasy. Props or no props, there is something for every couple.

Erotica for Throuples and Moresomes

Don't think for a minute that explicit photography for couples just means it's between two people. Traditional views of relationships do not apply here. As long as everyone is of age and in agreement, there is space for you here. There is plenty of room for throuples and moresomes to relish in the sensual artistry of erotic photography. The more the merrier, right?

Erotica for LBGTQ

Whether you desire boudoir or erotica, I'll always provide a safe and respected space if you identify with the LBGTQ community. Society can leave LBGTQ people feeling uncomfortable in their bodies, and I'm here to celebrate every nuance of who you are. Erotic photography can help you feel assured and powerful in your body, which can be important for those who are made to feel uncomfortable on the outside by others who disagree with who they are. Pam Fields Photography is always supportive of the LBGTQ community and works to make them feel sexy as hell.
